Meet Our Leadership Team

Prof. Dr. Mohamad Nizam Mohamed Shapie

Prof. Dr. Mohamad Nizam Mohamed Shapie is an internationally recognized Silat scholar, educator, researcher, and coach with more than 30 years of experience in martial arts development, sports science, and cultural heritage promotion. As a Professor at the Faculty of Sports Science and Recreation, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia, he has led numerous research, coaching, and international collaboration initiatives related to Silat and combat sports. He is the founder of the World Silat Federation (WSF), AIRBORNE Research Network, and Silat EVO, reflecting his commitment to advancing Silat through education, innovation, and global engagement. His work has contributed significantly to the recognition of Silat as both a cultural heritage and an academic discipline, with presentations and collaborations spanning Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and beyond. Through his leadership, Prof. Dr. Nizam continues to promote international cooperation, youth development, coaching excellence, and cultural diplomacy. His vision is to unite the global Silat community while preserving its authentic traditions and ensuring its sustainable growth for future generations worldwide.

Sofi Basir

Sofi Basir is a dedicated Silat practitioner and international development advocate with extensive experience in martial arts promotion, organizational leadership, and community engagement. As Vice President of the World Silat Federation (WSF), he plays an important role in supporting the federation’s strategic initiatives, international partnerships, and membership development activities. Throughout his involvement in Silat, he has contributed to the growth of practitioner networks, educational programs, and international collaborations aimed at strengthening the global Silat community. His leadership reflects a strong commitment to preserving the traditions and values of Silat while embracing opportunities for innovation, education, and cultural exchange. Working closely with WSF leadership and affiliates worldwide, Sofi Basir continues to support the federation’s mission of promoting unity, excellence, and mutual respect among practitioners. His efforts contribute to expanding the global reach of Silat and ensuring its continued development as a respected martial art, educational discipline, and cultural heritage for future generations.

Muhammad Salehin Ramli

Muhammad Salehin Ramli serves as the Secretary General of the World Silat Federation (WSF), overseeing administrative coordination, organizational operations, and international communications. With extensive experience in Silat development, coaching, and event management, he plays a key role in ensuring the effective implementation of WSF programs and activities. He is responsible for coordinating membership affairs, supporting international affiliates, facilitating certification programs, and managing communications between WSF and its global network. His dedication to professionalism, efficiency, and organizational excellence helps strengthen the federation’s operations and international presence. Through his commitment to service and collaboration, Muhammad Salehin Ramli continues to support WSF’s vision of uniting practitioners worldwide while preserving the rich heritage and values of Silat through education, leadership, and international cooperation.

Puteri Elissa Sarah

Puteri Elissa Sarah serves as the Treasurer of the World Silat Federation (WSF), supporting the federation’s financial management, administrative coordination, and organizational development. Having been actively involved in Silat from a young age, she has gained valuable experience as both a practitioner and instructor, contributing to the development of youth and community-based Silat programs. As Treasurer, she is responsible for assisting with financial planning, budget monitoring, and ensuring effective resource management to support WSF activities and international initiatives. Her commitment to discipline, professionalism, and accountability reflects the core values promoted by the federation. In addition to her administrative responsibilities, Puteri Elissa Sarah is passionate about youth development, leadership, and the preservation of Silat heritage. Through her involvement in WSF, she continues to support the federation’s mission of building a strong global Silat community while inspiring the next generation of practitioners through education, service, and international engagement.
